About PasswayPrep

Every student has a way to pass.

Meet the Founder

PasswayPrep was founded by Sean Newborn, an educator with more than 22 years of experience helping students read, write, and test at their highest level.

Sean’s career spans the full arc of education. He has taught AP Literature and Composition and intensive reading at the high school level, served as a Literacy Coach and Assistant Department Head of English, and directed a nationally recognized learning center where he supervised a staff of 30 certified teachers serving 100 K–12 students. He has also taught college composition, college-and-career readiness, and graduate reading courses as an adjunct instructor at institutions including the University of Virginia, Hillsborough Community College, and the University of Maryland.

His credentials include an Education Specialist degree in Reading from the University of Virginia, a master’s in American Culture Studies, and a bachelor’s in English Composition and Literature. He holds a Florida teaching certificate in Secondary English (6–12) with endorsements in Reading and ESOL, and he was named his school’s Diversity Educator of the Year.

Why PasswayPrep

Sean started PasswayPrep to support students the system too often leaves behind — those who struggle with standardized tests, those who need to pass one to meet a graduation requirement, and those who simply want to maximize their test performance. The name says it plainly: every student has a way to pass, and our job is to find it. Alongside test prep, PasswayPrep coaches students through the college essay and application process, helping them tell their story and put their best foot forward.

A Personalized Plan for Success

PasswayPrep takes a comprehensive, data-informed approach to student success. Using both soft data — a student’s goals, habits, and confidence — and hard data — score reports, subskill breakdowns, and concordance across every accepted test — Sean identifies each student’s specific strengths and areas of need, then builds an individualized plan designed to get them where they need to go. No two students are the same, and no two plans should be either.

Who We Serve

PasswayPrep specializes in supporting Florida students navigating FAST, the SAT, ACT, CLT, and Florida’s concordant graduation options — with a growing mission to help students beyond the state as well.
